Raima Sen all drunk at Manish’s party

raima_sen_04.jpg It seems that when it comes to drinking at parties then our Bollywood girls are a match for any Paris Hilton or Brittany Spears.

One of these girls, well Raima Sen to be more precise, got so drunk at a party last weekend that she had to be guided by two men to her chauffeur driven car. A photographer who was present when Raima lost her balance and tripped in the hotel lobby, says, “Raima was wearing a white gown and looked extremely pretty. But she did seem dazed. She was unable to stand on her feet and fell down in the hotel lobby. That’s when the security guys rushed up to her, helped her get up and sat her down - until her car arrived.”

The host of the party, designer Manish Malhotra stood holding Raima till her car arrived… looking very concerned about her wellbeing. When contacted, Raima said, “I was not tipsy. I was extremely tired. I was shooting in the morning at Madh Island. It took us two hours just to get to the party.”

sr.jpgMumbai, (IANS) Film and Television Producers’ Guild of India (FTPGI) honoured veteran Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra with its top award for “outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema”.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan received the best actor award for his performance in the Yash Raj Films’ super hit film “Chak De! India”.

Kareena Kapoor walked away with the best actress trophy for her comic portrayal of a young Sikh girl in “Jab We Met” at a glittering presentation ceremony at the MMRDA Ground in the Bandra-Kurla Complex in northwest Mumbai Sunday.

FTPGI hosts its own award ceremony to honour Indian artistes as well as creative and technical personalities from the film industry every year.

The trophies are known as “Apsara” awards.

While “Chak De! India” was chosen the best movie of 2007, its director Shimit Amin bagged the trophy for the best director.

A Pakistani television channel, ARY Gold, also honoured actor Hrithik Roshan as the Best Male Style Icon of the year at the ceremony.

The star, however, could not make it to the ceremony. His father, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, received the trophy on his behalf. Katrina Kaif bagged the Best Female Style Icon ARY Gold trophy.

Akshay Kumar, who churned out the maximum number of hits last year, was adjudged the “Entertainer of the Year” by the FTPGI jury.

NDTV Imagine honoured Deepika Pudokone and Ranbir Kapoor as the year’s best new faces, respectively.

Salman Khan and Govinda received the hit pair NDTV Imagine trophy for their breezy performances in producer Sohail Khan’s hit movie last year, “Partner”.

Salman Khan, Bipasha Basu, Kareena and Riteish Deshmukh performed on the stage and livened up the well-attended awards presentation ceremony put together by Wizcraft.

shahid_kapoor_09.jpgInclusion and exclusion is a constant part of Bachchan’s Unforgettable tour. If old member, Lara Dutta opted out of the show then there has also been an addition of few new members. It is reported that Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and veteran actress Madhuri Dixit will join the Bachchan troop.

The show is already delayed from 2007 to 2008. “Abhishek and Aishwarya were busy with their marriage and their careers. We had to take it to 2008,” states Big B. Now everything had been laid down and the show will kick start in July. First the troop will head to US and then Europe. New members, Shahid and Saif happily accepted to be a part of the tour as the timings matched their film dates. Madhuri has also been approached for the show as the event will be held in her place and it would be feasible for her.

Lots of excitement is expected from the tour. The Bachchans would groove to their hit numbers. They will also dance to some songs composed by Vishal-Shekhar especially for the tour. Kajra re is sure to be performed by the three Bachchan. Riteish Deshmukh and Bipasha Basu are also part of the tour.

I’m Possessive About Ash - Abhishek

abhisek.jpgAbhishek Bachchan speaks easy on hits, flops and more…
— SUBHASH K JHA

Guru, which most consider your finest performance to date, came at the start of 2007. Do you think it was forgotten at the awards nights at the end of the year?
Why do you say that? Rang De Basanti had also been released in January. Awards are no doubt very encouraging. But there have been many notable films in the past that haven’t won awards. At the end of the day the greatest award is a successful film. One chooses a film because it seems interesting, not to see how many awards it will finally get. Guru was an acclaimed and successful film. It’s one of the biggest hits of 2007.

Are you more possessive about Sarkar Raj than Jodhaa-Akbar since the former stars you with your wife?
No. At the end of the day, I am an actor. And we’re both thoroughly professional. It would be incorrect for me to be possessive about our films together. I am both an actor and her husband. I’m possessive about her, not her films. It doesn’t matter whom she works with. In fact, I really like her pairing with Duggu. I think they looked good together in Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa-Akbar. I wish the pair all the best.

Interestingly the first and second turning points in your career were both courtesy Mani Rathnam?
Yes, Yuva and Guru. Mani is very special. He had faith in me at a time when most people had lost faith, including myself. He’s a friend and mentor. I hope I never let him down. He knows I’m only a phone call away. According to me, he’s one of the most talented directors we’ve ever had.

You went through a prolonged lean phase at the beginning of your career?
During the times when my films were flopping I had friends like Karan Johar who kept my morale
high. I can’t deny access to the industry was easier because you are a Bachchan. And I guess I did have it much easier than many people. But once you get a chance, you’ve to prove yourself just like anybody else. I had to struggle. I almost gave up after 17 failures. My father kept saying, just keep working and believe in yourself. Thankfully better days were around the corner. You’ve to work very hard to get anywhere in this business. And I’m working hard. However there’s no formula for success.

Are you pleased with your assignments?
Of course! How wonderful to be working at a time when an actor gets to do a Sarkar Raj, Drona and Dilli 6 during the same year. It’s a dream come true for any actor.

Why did you initially opt out of Dilli 6?
Rakeysh Mehra mentioned the subject to me many years ago. He finally decided to shoot it in winter 2006 when I was committed to shooting Drona. I suggested he do it with someone else. He asked Duggu who asked me if it was okay. I was perfectly okay with that. But then Duggu’s dates didn’t work out. Then Rakeysh decided to rewrite the script . By December 2007, I was able to do the film. The rest, I hope will be history. Rakeysh is a very sensitive director and I love working with him. I was meant to start my career with him.
