Size zero is out for actress Kareena Kapoor. In her next release, Kambakht Ishq, she plays a surgeon who moonlights as a supermodel. Kareena has put on extra pounds for the role.
“I weigh 54 kg now, which for a girl of my height is quite fine. People used to wonder what ’size zero’ is and I’d joke, ‘Just look at me’. I don’t want that any more. I want to look like a normal healthy girl. My forthcoming releases required me to get back to a fuller shape,” said Kareena, who sported size zero in Tashan and Golmaal Returns.
“In Kambakht Ishq, my character flies to Italy to become a supermodel to support herself financially. I didn’t want to play the character looking like an international model because she’s basically in another profession. So she can’t really have the figure of Victoria Beckham, can she? I had to look more filled up,” she said.

Kareena Kapoor talks about the Mumbai attacks, finds it hard to digest
Many Indian celebrities have come out and expressed their thoughts on the horrific Mumbai shootings, but a certain Miss Kareena Kapoor had until now been quite.
This was because the actress was in Philadelphia shooting with Vivek Oberoi for a Karan Johar produced film, which coincidentally is also about terrorism. Kareena spent much of Wednesday trying to make calls back to India. Speaking from there, Kareena says, “It’s all fine here but I feel awful because of what has happened in Mumbai. It’s hard to believe this is happening to a city where it was said people could be out on the streets at any time day and night.”
Kareena is expected to return to December after Christmas when she will then take a long break with her boyfriend Saif Ali Khan.

Kareena Kapoor might not make it for Golmaal Returns’ success party tonight at Vie Lounge in Juhu. She’s down with a raging fever and a throat infection. On Sunday night, Kareena attended an event at Parel and collapsed after coming home. Says Bebo, “I am in awful shape right now. I am burning with a 101°C fever. I have a throat infection. After attending the event on Sunday, things became so bad that I collapsed after coming home. I was in such terrible shape that my mom had to call in the doctor. He’s giving me injections so that I can at least stand on my feet.”
Says Kareena. “I think my collapse has been caused by overwork and exhaustion. I have been working non-stop for the last 6 months round the clock. Even if I get half a day off, I am shooting for some ad or the other. I can’t talk. I had to cancel Sajid Nadiadwala’s (Kambakht Ishq) shoot yesterday. My body is acting up as I have constantly been working 20 hours a day. When mom heard I was going for the shoot yesterday, she forbade me from doing so. She’s horrified and has been scream- ing at Zayed (Bebo’s secretary) and me to stop over-stressing myself.”

Kareena Kapoor says that she doesn’t like the endless attention people give to her relationship with actor Saif Ali Khan and that most of the stories are untrue.
“There’re so many false stories about Saif and me. But it’s okay. I understand the need to know what’s going in our lives. Are we married… are we not married? Please! Fortunately, I’ve learnt to take all this unwanted speculation in my stride. The best thing is to just do my work and not get affected by the loose talk,” Kareena said in an interview.
She says it was wrong to have heightened expectations from Tashan just because it had Saif and her.
“We just did what the script required us to. I don’t think people should’ve gone to see Tashan as Saif and my love story. What does that mean! We’re playing characters. That’s why Jab We Met worked. The characters worked,” said Kareena.
She doesn’t like comparing her love life with work and said: “When I’m working, I’m working. And when I’m with him (Saif), I’m all there.”
Excerpts:
Q: What’s this about you being the highest paid actress in India?
A: I don’t know what other actors get paid. And I don’t care. I get what I deserve. I’ve slogged right from Refugee to Jab We Met and Tashan. An actor is signed for what he or she can deliver.
Q: Is your price flexible?
A: I’ve always been flexible with my fee. The hunger is for the right roles.
