Minissha Lamba admits her ultra-glamorous look in “Kidnap” opened a whole new range of opportunities for her. But the young actress, who will be seen in Shyam Benegal’s new film, feels that at the end of it talent plays an important role.

“My looks in ‘Kidnap’ helped open a whole new and different range of opportunities for me. It is something I cherish. Being good looking is important, but not always. You need talent as well. If you have talent, people accept you regardless of the way you look,” Lamba told IANS over telephone from Mumbai.

She also feels being short is not a disadvantage in the film industry.

“If you are a model, having height is imperative, but cinema is a medium where it doesn’t matter. You are on a platform where being tall or short loses relevance,” she said.After her glamorous avatar in “Kidnap”, Minissha will be seen in a non-glamorous role in Benegal’s forthcoming film, “Well Done Abba”.

“At first I was really scared to work with Mr. Benegal. But once we started shooting, he turned out to be a really calm, jovial and humorous person. We never saw him upset on the sets,” she said.

Minissha Lamba slogged it hard in the gym to attain a figure that she could flaunt in a bikini, however she insists that she can never attain a size zero figure.

She says, “I admit, I can never be size zero no matter how hard I work out or what diet I follow. We Indians are not meant to be size zero. I remember, when I was visiting various places for the publicity of Kidnap, many girls would come up to me and tell me about wanting to go on a crash diet. I don’t advocate crash diets at all.”

Folks do you think that Minissha did not resort to crash diet to get a slim figure, ‘coz after slimming down she looked really old.

On asking about her college life Minissha Lamba, began with praising her professors.

“We had the most amazing professors in the University. I was a student of English Literature and attending lectures were the most memorable moments of my college life. The English department had the best teachers, there was professor Ila Singh and of course Sharmila Ma’am…”, recalls the ex-Miranda student.

She can, in that way, be labeled as a good student who always listened to her teachers.

“As much as I disliked the idea, at times I had to, for, I was doing a part time job alongside. Acting just happened. I actually aspired to be a journalist,” says the former model. She still likes to wield the pen whenever time allows. On being asked about her style mantra for college days, she says, “Kurtis teamed up with denims or a long kurta worn with a pyjami or a patiala salwar.

The sexy diva Minissha Lamba kept on displaying her girl next door image until she got all fed up of it and suddenly decided to turn sexy. She donned a bikini and itsy-bitsy clothes in the Id release ‘Kidnap’ but unfortunately fell flat on her face.

Actually this dame neither has the body nor the attitude to turn hot. The buzz is that now she’s gone under the knife to get a better nose. Minissha is rumored to have undergone plastic surgery to get a thin and pointed nose. The actress felt she had a broad nose which didn’t look good on her face.

‘To hell with natural beauty’, that seems to be the mantra in Bollywood right now.

Minissha Lamba is seen in a bikini in her latest release Kidnap. She plays a 17-something hot chic who is filthy rich. One of her favorite hobbies is of course swimming in the ocean.When Sanjay Gadhvi offered the role to Minissha, he told her that there is going to be a Bikini scene. Minissha has been fairly conservative with her roles so far this was going to be her first bikini scene. And her first reaction to this was -

“My first reaction was that I hope I have enough time to get bikini fit, because as of today, you cannot put me in a bikini and shoot. Sanjay [Gadhvi, director] gave me eight months to get into shape. He told me to trust him and that this was a fab role for me. I agreed immediately,” said Minissha

“And for that I worked out a lot and starved myself. I gave up pizzas, which I love, and chocolate cakes and beverages,” she explained.

She had complete faith in Sanjay with her bikini scene. “This is a Sanjay Gadhvi film. He is known as very stylish filmmaker. He presents his actors and actresses very well. And you know that his aesthetics are on the mark. As an actor, you have nothing to worry about. You can trust him implicitly.”

This is nothing new, whenever a big film is scheduled for release one of the principal artists gets miffed with the maker for not promoting them. Only last week we reported about Priyanka Chopra getting annoyed with the makers of ‘Drona’. Now we have the buzz that Minissha Lamba is not happy with Sanjay Gadhvi the director of ‘Kidnap’ for not giving her importance in the promos of the film. Her absence from the press conference and photo shoot of the film corroborates the same.

‘Kidnap’ is pitted against ‘Drona’ on October 2 and call it a coincidence that leading ladies of both the films are miffed with their respective makers.

Minissha Lamba after playing a innocent bubbly girl in Bachna Ae Haseeno, will be seen in a completely different avatar in Kidnap, she plays a funky teenager who doesn’t mind baring herself.

And now after the buzz her stark white bikini has created, Minishha Lamba is enjoying every bit of it, she says, “Well, it is shocking for quite a few people but if you ask me, I am really enjoying it all. Seriously, I felt beautiful when I donned the bikini for Kidnap. And though people do ask me how comfortable I was with the thought of wearing a bikini, let me tell you that I was more focused on getting my body into the right shape than worrying about anything else.”

Minissha is proud to join the bikini bandwagon and admits, “Yes, I have joined the bikini bandwagon. After all, not many girls are doing it even today, isn’t it? In any case when you see Kidnap, you would realize that the makeover isn’t for the sake of it. This was meant to be a part of the character and I was duly convinced that donning a bikini was indeed an integral part of the script.”

After Kareena Kapoor bubbly Minissha Lamba is going to go sexy by donning… hold your breaths.. a stark white bikini. The actress is all set to bare herself in Kidnap.

And the bubbly actress who we have always seen in full clothes doesn’t mind all the skin show, she says, ” When I was told about my role, Sanjay was clear-cut and told me at the outset itself that some scenes needed me to wear a bikini and that too a white one! “

Minissha also revealed her fitness routine for turning her body sexy, “I did the usual dieting gymming routine to get a bod for the bikini.”

But for Minissha donning a bikini was not tough but finding a white bikini was toughest, ” The toughest part was finidng a stark white bikini. Normally they are in fluorescent colors or bright hues. But my designer Shilpa Bhatia who was styled me for the film managed to fine one. We shot the scenes in Mauritius. Though I know swimming, doing it in the ocean is different.”

Kidnap is newbie Imran Khan’s second movie and shows him in a completely different avatar.
