Vidya Balan is all praise for her “Ishqiya” co-star Arshad Warsi but rues that he is the most underutilised actor in the industry.”He is the most underutilised actor in the industry. He is a very talented actor who performs every role with so much conviction that he leaves a mark on audiences’ minds,” Balan told reporters at a press conference here at the Big Cinemas.

“Today, people remember him as Circuit of ‘Munnabhai M.B.B.S.’ but I am sure after watching ‘Ishqiya’ they will remember him as Babban. He is a wonderful actor to work with,” she added.Set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh, the crime-thriller is about the revenge of a widow, played by Vidya, and how she uses Arshad and Naseeruddin Shah’s characters to execute her plan to find her “dead” husband.

“I have learnt a lot from Naseer sir and Arshad during the making of the movie. They are so secure actors that I was like imbibing a lot from them. It was give and take process throughout the movie,” said Vidya.

Vidya Balan’s love for books is well known, but with her hectic schedule she is hardly left with any time for her first love — books. The actress loves to read whenever she gets time, whether it’s between shots or while she’s stuck in traffic. Says a unit source, “Irrespective of the set, you will always find her with a book.

Vidya has quite an impressive collection of books at her home. You will see books lying around even in her car. She takes them wherever she goes. She loves all genres of books right from romantic novels and biographies to sci-fi and mysteries.”

We also hear that Vidya is most delighted to receive books as gifts. But with a whole load of movies on her plate, Vidya seems to have little time for books.

In a recent interview, Vidya Balan has given ample hints that she and Shahid were once dating, however things got sour between them to an extent that they won’t be working together anymore.Check out the interview.

Did the caustic comments about your weight finally get to you?
I won’t say that I was immune to them. But you see, I was going through a lot of confusion in my head on a lot of fronts. I started taking a few things for granted. I became complacent. And I lost interest. Till Kismet Connection, everything was going well for me and then suddenly…

Okay, what triggered off the need to lose weight?
Well, my mom sat me down and told me that I needed to feel good about myself. I think that I was trying to be someone else. I was desperately trying to fit into a certain mould (pauses)

(Looks up at the ceiling) It was not about my weight and clothes. Those caustic comments were coming because I looked unhappy. I was exuding a certain amount of unhappiness.

It is generally said that acting is easy. But for Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, who is in lead against Abhishek Bachchan in upcoming Paa, performing in the flick was a tedious job.

A source said that Vidya had to carry a boy weighing around 45 kilograms on her shoulders. While fulfilling the demand of the scene, the actress fell on the ground.

Weight of Vidya is around 45 Kgs. So, carrying a boy of same weight on her shoulders was an uphill task. However, the actress did it. While doing so the actress lost her balance and fell.

The much-awaited movie is scheduled to be release on December 4. The movie is focus on father-son relationship. The flick features Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan and others.

Vidya Balan is back in a de-glam role with Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Ishqiya’. Going by the trailers, she is playing a simple village belle but has tried some ‘bold’ scenes too.She is featured to be doing steamy scenes with Arshad Warsi and also rumoured to play darker shades. Her ‘desi-giri’ includes swearing in pure Hindi, conning Arshad and Naseeruddin Shah by batting those pretty eye lashes like a true ‘gaon ki gori’ and then even not minding rendering a hot smooch onscreen!

Vidya’s kissing spree continues after the Bollywood Movie ‘Guru’. She had no qualms locking lips with R Madhavan in the film. Recently, she did a very long and intimate scene with Arshad Warsi and kissed him very comfortably in ‘Ishqiya’. The scene in question has a hot kiss, and is very essential to set the tempo. “Why wouldn’t I do that scene when the bound script which was given to me before the film went on the floors? I had no issues doing the kissing scene,” Vidya Balan said.

Vidya Balan proved to be more adventurous than her sedate image and serene personality suggest.Recently while shooting for Balki’s Amitabh-Abhishek starrer Paa in Cambridge, Vidya simply disappeared into thin air! The crew returned to Mumbai without her. Laughs Vidya, “It’s nothing so dramatic. Yes, I did stay back in Cambridge. I simply had to. I had no choice.”

Shooting for Balki’s Paa in Oxford and Cambridge proved to be too lovely an experience for the actress to leave behind. After the whole unit left, she decided to stay for an extra week.Recounting the experience Vidya says, “I just couldn’t help it. Just being in Cambridge shooting was not enough. I felt a deep connect with the campus and the environment. I just wanted to walk around the campus with books in hand so I’d look like a student.”

Vidya Balan has turned a huge raving cricket fan and is madly in love with the gentleman’s game. Apparently, Vidya became a big fan of Cricket right after being cleaned bowled by Zaheer Khan.

Yes Vidya has a thing for Zaheer. Ahem That is Vidya is a big fan of cricket and even a bigger fan of Zaheer Khan’s cricketing.

Recently Vidya confessed to a friend that her favorite cricketer is Zaheer Khan.

And her friend told us, “Vidya thinks Zaheer is the hottest cricketer on the block.”

“Zaheer’s coyness appeals to Vidya. She feels Zaheer’s quite nature may give a different impression but he is a strong man from within,” add the over-zealous friend.

After being criticized for her figure, Vidya has finally managed to get into shape. If you think the actress has gone through a lot of killing exercising then you are absolutely wrong. In fact actress chose a very unique way to lose those extra kgs.

It is believed that Vidya went on a holiday in Goa which turned out to be an adventure trip. She indulged in adventure sports and also parasailing. Apart from that, Vidya used to climb up the Petronas Towers while shooting in Kuala Lumpur for Balki’s Paa.

Vidya’s adventure loving nature has helped her to get the lean look without hitting the gym. Now that’s a smart way to lose weight, right Vidya!

John Abraham and Vidya Balan seem to have buried the hatchet. Not that the duo didn’t get along before or something, its just that John’s girlfriend Bipasha was not very comfortable with the couple being paired together in Salaam-E-Ishq and post it.

But as destiny would have it, the two hot stars are back together on screen and what brings them together is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Chenab Gandhi. As against the initial plan, Bhansali has dropped Hurman Baweja and has roped in John for the lead role instead. Interestingly, Chenab Gandhi also stars Vidya Balan as female lead.
It can be recalled that after Salaam-E-Ishq many directors wanted to cash on John-Vidya’s hot chemistry but insecurities on Bipasha’s part had prevented the two stars getting romantically paired on screen.

Vidya even walked out of David Dhawan’s Hook Yaa Crook, starring John, to avoid any controversies. However all seems well between the duo now as they have agreed to work with each other in Bhansali’s Chenab Gandhi. ‘Let bygones be bygones’ seems to be the couple’s new mantra. We hope Bips believes in the same!

Vidya Balan has been missing in action ever since she finished making publicity rounds for her last release Kismat Konnection.

Many thought that it was the negative reactions to the film that forced Vidya to get underground but the actress denies to all these rumours and says she busy shooting.

“I was shooting in Wai for Ishqiya, so i wasn’t here. I had just come down to Mumbai for a day in between,” says Vidya.

Bollywood’s good girl will be seen in a negative role for the first time in her forthcoming film Ishqiya opposite Arshad Warsi.

“It is a different character from the kind of characters I have been portraying so far. But in every film I have tried to do something different so I think this is in keeping with that,” adds Vidya.

After Bipasha Basu suddenly left Kashmir while shooting for Lamhaa, producer Bunty Walia and director Rahul Dholakia are having second thoughts about her being the film’s lead actress. Whether Bipasha will remain a part of Lamhaa or not will be decided after she has a meeting with Bunty and Rahul today.

Meanwhile, Bunty and Rahul are already looking at options to replace Bipasha if she dies not agree to travel to Kashmir for a shooting schedule in January. One of the strongest contenders to step into Bipasha’s shoes is Vidya Balan.

On Monday, Rahul drove down to Wai to meet Vidya and ask if she would be willing to replace Bipasha in Lamhaa.

A couple of weeks ago Bipasha had left the film’s shooting mid-way and had flown down from Kashmir to Mumbai leaving Rahul, Bunty and Sanjay Dutt stranded. The cast and crew of Lamhaa were shooting a sequence at Anantnag, which is 55 kms away from Srinagar.
